Marcin Jaskółka in Chile from Marcin Jaskółka on Vimeo.
Polish ripper Marcin Jaskolka jumped ship on Europe this summer and headed down to South America to shred instead. Fickle weather forced him to change his intended plans but he still scored some nice lines in Chile, as you’ll see in his edit above. Here’s what he had to say about where he went and what he saw:

On my recent trip to Chile I explored the terrain around El Colorado and Portillo. Portillo impressed me the most. It’s
surrounded by huge walls and interesting couloirs. I noticed three nice couloirs on my first day, but it turned out that poor snow conditions and avalanche danger did not allow me to climb them during my trip. After 5 hours of climbing in heavy snow conditions, I did manage to descend the Super C Couloir. The Super C may not be that technically difficult but it’s definitely one of the most beautiful couloirs I’ve ever seen.
On the way up the Super C Couloir.
The first place I went in Chile was El Colorado outside of Santiago. There was about 40 – 50 cm of fresh snow but I had to be very careful because the fresh only slightly covered the protruding rocks.

This was my first time in the Andes but it won’t be my last. They are very beautiful, with millions of options to ride. I will certainly return there in the near future. Experiencing just a small part of the range left me wanting to see a lot more!
