You might think in such a well-traveled region as the Mont Blanc Massif that riding a first descent would require serious effort just to get to the base of the line, let alone to climb and ride it. Not so much for Chamonix legend Julien ’Pica’ Herry. In January, Pica and ski alpinist Yannick Boissenot rode a new line that was only ten minutes hike from the top of a cable lift!

Riding through variable but mostly good snow, Pica and Yannick established a new line on the South shoulder of Grande Floria, 2700m. The line descends an exposed traversing ramp that they aptly named the "Diagonal".
