Favorite Jones boards:
Flagship for resort riding and the Solution splitboard for backcountry days. Startingt o fall in love with the Hovercraft too, that board rocks in tight trees!
What is one lesson or reminder you learned in the backcountry recently?
Seize the moment... you never wish you slept in, didn't do an extra lap or not go around the corner to see whats there.. sometimes I feel so drained out there that I can't even think about doing one of these but I try to remember I won't regret it, but I will most likely regret not doing it. Days are short, winter is short, our lives are short and the moments that are happening now will never come again.
How has splitboarding changed your view of the backcountry?
Splitboarding has made me feel way more in touch with everything that is going with the snow while I'm out there. It has made me realize that I can do way more then I ever thought and I make the most out of every turn. Splitboarding has also made me respect all the skiers and splitboarders that did this all before me.
Describe your "dream line".
My dream line drops off a ridge into a small bowl with a perfect backside windlip landing in a natural terrain park of rollers and mushroom tops to pop off with occasional trees along the way.
What inspires you to keep snowboarding?
The freedom to ride what I want, and be outdoors challenging myself.
2017 season highlight
A bottomless day celebrating a friends birthday at Jackson Hole, just laughing our faces off riding pow all day. That day I had an epiphany that sometimes snowboarding pow is like a whole body tickle. Another highlight was finally feeling like I could slow down enough to be able to make honest decisions in the mountains and really take in the moments that are the ones I live for.
