First run of the season down the North Face of the Aiguille du Midi?! You got to be kidding me. Talk about starting the season fully pinned. Only in Chamonix…
Jones team rider Julien ‘Pika’ Herry was part of a crew of four that pulled off an ascent and descent of the Mallory route on the Aiguille du Midi on November 20, 2012. Herry was joined by Francesco Civra Dano, Luca Rolli and Davide Capozzi. The team left the Aiguille parking lot at 2:30 am (1000m) and climbed the North face in 10 hours. After summitting at 12:30 pm (3843m), they dropped in and shredded the legendary and ridiculously exposed Mallory route back down to the Aiguille du Plan.
