Details

Shape & profile

A snowboard's outline defines many of its characteristics, from how it turns or floats in powder to its performance riding switch. Shape affects everything from the width and taper of the nose and tail, to the position of the stance relative to the board's center.

Shape image

[Shape]

Directional

A directional outline with a longer nose, shorter tail and setback stance to optimize float, maneuverability and edge power. Designed for riders who prioritize performance on groomers and in the backcountry over park riding.

[Pr0file]

High Power Camber

Full tip-to-tail camber delivering explosive pop and locked-in edge control. An 8mm rise and extended flat zone under the rear inserts amplify power and precision in the tail to drive out of turns and stomp heavy landings on steep terrain.

[Tracti0n_tech]

Medium Traction Tech

Medium Traction Tech features three bumps per edge (front binding, board center, back binding). The middle bump is slightly bigger than the outside bumps for better grip and control.

[Taper]

Low Tapered

A subtle taper that aids directional performance but keeps the ride feeling balanced and dynamic on piste and resort terrain. Popular with riders who like to carve the resort or push freestyle in the backcountry, without giving up versatility on the powder days. Any shape with a taper of less than 10mm between the nose and tail.

3D Contour Base

Shape image

Surf-inspired shaping for next-level performance.

Inspired by the rounded bottom contours of surfboards, 3D Contour Bases are designed to make every run smoother and every turn more effortless by reducing the drag of the board tips. 3D Contour Bases enhance glide and improve float, helping you ride faster and with better flow. Learn more

[3d_pr0file]

Medium 3D Contour Base

3D Contour Base tuned for all-terrain featuring 4mm of spoon bevel in the nose and 0-4mm of spoon bevel in the tail. Spoon bevel starts just before the contact points.

How it works

Riding flat
Riding flat

When riding flat, the spoon bevel on the edges is not engaged, but it does help smoothly deflect snow away from the nose of the board.

Turn initiation
Turn initiation

As you begin to make a turn, the spoon bevel helps you smoothly roll the board on to your egde with less friction and edge drag.

Mid turn
Mid turn

In the middle of a turn, camber and Traction Tech keep you locked onto your egde in the center of the board while the spoon bevel reduces the "plow effect" of your nose and tail edges.

One board to rule them all

After a full season on the Howler I can confidently say this is my favourite snowboard I've owned so far in 20+ years of riding.

I just got back from my BASI level 3 technical riding exams and couldn't have asked for a better board for that week where we had to demonstrate proficiency in steeps, berms, bumps, variables, carving, switch riding in all the former, and park (with probably the least emphasis on park - only goes as far as 5050's, boardslides, grabs, 180s & 360's on medium features). Before the exams was riding it a lot in the Montenegrin powder and trees, and I'm always hunting for side hits.

I didn't feel any need or desire to switch board for any of those tasks, and for me and my riding style it's the perfect do-it-all board. I'll still keep a dedicated park board for all-out park days, and a split for obvious reasons, but it really does fill the perfect all-rounder spot for the way I like to ride.

Not to sound like too much of a fanboy, but I'm going to buy two 157w Howlers next season incase they ever deviate from this formula. The only way I could imagine a better board for me is if they offered a premium construction, light weight offering, as it does feel to be on the heavier side compared to some of my previous boards. But who knows if / how that might shift the feel.

Hi Martin. Wow, what an incredible review, thank you so much for taking the time to share this! Congratulations on your BASI Level 3 exams first of all, that's a serious achievement! Stoked to hear the Howler held its own through all of it, steeps, powder, trees, carving, switch... that's the ultimate all-rounder test right there. And Montenegro powder sounds absolutely insane!

Buying two for next season, we see you and we appreciate the trust more than you know! Your feedback on a premium lightweight construction is genuinely noted and really valuable for us. Thanks again for 20+ years of riding and for making the Howler your favourite yet. See you on the mountain!

Pure confidence booster

I’ve had capita, lib tech, and 3 different jones boards. By far this is my favorite board I have ever ridden. It is a pure confidence booster, and would recommend it to anybody looking for a board that you can fully trust. I ride on the east coast, and it handles any conditions that have been thrown at me. Charges hard, excellent with carving, and extreme pop. I have gotten so many compliments on the board due to the graphics. If you even are questioning buying this board, pull the trigger! Does exactly what it is described as.

Hi Ashton. Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a positive review! We are thrilled to hear that it has become your favorite board and has given you a confidence boost while riding. We truly appreciate your recommendation and we hope you will continue to enjoy your snowboarding experience with the Howler.

Absolutely incredible board

I chose the men’s Howler because I’m taller (174 cm) and went with the 152 size. I’m absolutely in love with this board. It’s super maneuverable yet incredibly stable, especially in choppy snow. On uneven terrain it absolutely rips, holds solid at high speed, is amazing for carving, and it basically pops and jumps on its own. An absolutely incredible snowboard.

Hi Totchka,

Thanks for taking the time to share this, stoked to hear the Howler is delivering exactly what it was designed for. Great call on the 152, and it’s awesome to know you’re feeling that balance of maneuverability, stability, and natural pop across mixed conditions.

Really appreciate the feedback and support. Enjoy every turn out there

This has to be one of the best boards I've owned.

This has to be one of the best boards I've owned to date. Since getting back into snowboarding after a decade off I have found myself going through a few brands and boards. After having landed on Jones after picking up a Stratos Split. I have started to really love their boards, they seem to suit my riding style and i love their ethos
I bought the Tweaker for mainly off piste smaller mini adventures to try and unlock my inner Victor de la rue. While i haven't achieved my inner Victor what I can say is the board has definitely inspired some serious confidence.
I was was worried it may be a tad too stiff for me but i have found that this board has the perfect balance of speed, stability and edge hold....oh and that full camber and pop..wow!!!
So far i've only managed one pow day as the season has been proper low tide so far. But it was an utter joy to ride, floats amazingly well and loves a huck off a drop. Another big surprise is how good it is on piste, especially on the hard pack/ice...tons of edge hold and it loves to charge while still inspiring more confidence.
So whoever is thinking of buying this board, i can guarantee it will be one of the best snowboard investments you can make!!

Hi Gav!

First off, thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a glowing review for our Men's Howler Snowboard. We are thrilled to hear that it has exceeded your expectations and has become one of your favorite boards to date.
It's great to know that the Jones Stratos Split and our Tweaker have both been a good fit for your riding style.
We completely understand the struggle of trying to unlock your inner Victor de la Rue, but we're glad that our board has inspired some serious confidence in your riding. And we're stoked that it has performed well in both off-piste adventures and on the slopes.

Cheers,
Anna

Tweaker meets Flagship 🙌

I LOVE the Howler but wanted to wait for 5 days of riding to give honest feedback. IMO it is less stiff than my Ultra Twin and more versatile than my Mind Expander. It has Tons of accessible pop but not my first choice pow board, it’s a great camber daily driver that boosts. Ultra twin is stiffer and much more damp, my Mind Expander is looser and better in deep snow. Howler was great in 6” of pow and icy groomers. Side hits were so fun. The longer sidecut wanted me to point it and charge, not as nimble in trees/bumps. But over-all rips in steep icy east-coast crap and fun in powder. It flexes between the bindings and actually butters pretty well. Rails felt locked in and for jumps, it’s perfect for big 3’s and lofty methods. Feels like the Tweaker and Flagship had a D1 athlete child. I see why everyone calls it “confidence inspiring” It’s great approachable camber board that will make a strong intermediate rider feel like a ripper. 🙌☃️

Hi Eddie,

That's rad feedback, thanks for putting in some time on the Howler before reviewing! We appreciate the detailed notes on how it handles powder versus unideal conditions, and that charging side hits was so fun. Thanks for being a valued customer of Jones!

Quiver Killer!!! My everything board now!

My go to for everything board now. I've ridden the Aviator and Flagship for the last 6 years now and this feels like a perfect hybrid between the two. If you're a freerider who likes to get freestyle this is the board for you!

Hi there,

The 'perfect hybrid' is exactly what we were going for with the Howler! It’s awesome to hear that after years on the Aviator and Flagship, this has become your new everything board. Keep sending it!

This is the most fun I’ve had snowboarding

This is the most fun I’ve had snowboarding. Got the Howler as a rec from a local shop, and can’t be happier. Rides like a dream, stable at high speeds, super easy to maneuver/transition edge to edge, can accelerate and maintain speed way better than my friends’ boards. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Wish I had this board years ago.

Hi Hume,

We're stoked the Howler is out-pacing your friends' boards and riding like a dream for you. Thanks for the review :)

Incredible.

I have three days now on my 161 Howler and I think it is likely the best board I've ever owned. In pow it was great, on groomers it trenches, it is stable at very high speeds and it pops. Big, big fan.

Great at speed

Great at speed. This board offers absolute stability. I'm pretty a heavy rider so board's ability to hold me locked onto the slope and "eat" bumps and not buck me around is quite important. This board delivered. No chatter at high speeds. It's quite stiff doesn't feel like a dead log - edge change and dynamic turns feel great on it.

Hi Max,

Stability and confidence at speed are exactly what the Howler thrives in! We're glad to hear it's 'eating' the bumps and keeping you locked in without any chatter.
