We believe there
is a better way.

We believe there is a better way.

We strive to minimize the impact of our gear.

The journey to make groundbreaking products parallels a quest to find solitude in the mountains. To leave the tracks behind and make innovative gear requires courage, commitment and humility because failure is more common than success when trying to do things that have never been done. And just like summit attempts, some product ideas must be abandoned along the way. The knowledge gained in failure is beneficial and makes a successful summit bid or new product launch feel that much sweeter.

Our dedication to developing only game changing gear reflects our belief that the world doesn’t need more products - the world needs better products. Too much modern day gear is disposable and made without regard to its impact on the planet. We strive to do better and make gear that balances the three founding pillars of our design ethos - performance, sustainability, and innovation.

Often, we hit only two out of three - a high performance topsheet material with a heavy carbon footprint, or an amazing ultralight fabric that might not live up to daily use and abuse. Navigating these challenges, and the inevitable defeats, is the foundation of our test, tweak and repeat design process. New product concepts are conceived and tested on skintracks and chairlifts around the world, but new models are only born when they meet the rigorous quality and sustainability standards that define our brand.

Our Design Ethos

Eco-Performance

We never sacrifice performance and durability for sustainability.

We strive to make products with the least impact on the planet possible, but we trust our lives to our gear so we must value performance foremost. We test new materials and production processes to make sure we never sacrifice performance or durability just to make a product more sustainable. Durability is a critical aspect of sustainability as the longer the gear lasts, the less waste that goes to the dump. This ECO-Performance design philosophy is the foundation upon which everything we make is made.

Sustainability

We strive to minimize the impact of our gear.

To make gear in the most responsible way possible, we strive to minimize the impact of our materials and manufacturing processes however we can. All of our snowboards, splitboards and outerwear contain recycled materials, and they always have.  Our boards are also made in a factory that runs on 100% solar power, and the fabrics we use in our outerwear are Oeko-Tex and/or Bluesign® certified - the two leading responsible material certifications in the apparel industry.

Innovation

We aspire to do things differently.

From our groundbreaking board shapes to our trailblazing outerwear designs, we never settle for anything less than game changing gear performance. By keeping an open mind to new gear concepts, materials and production processes we aspire to do things differently, and make innovative gear and outerwear that blends comfort, durability and industry leading responsible manufacturing practices with standard setting performance.

Manufacturing

Our network of factory partners helps us set new responsible manufacturing standards.

100%

Solar power

As of May 2020, all Jones snowboards and splitboards are made with 100% solar power. Switching our snowboard and splitboard production to 100% solar made a 89% reduction in CO2 compared to non-solar powered production.

100%

Socially responsible factories

All of our apparel is made in socially responsible factories that are Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) and Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production (WRAP) certified. These certifications guarantee that the people who make our apparel receive fair salaries and work in a safe and clean working environment.

100%

Commited to our Code-of-Conduct

All of our factory partners have signed our Code Of Conduct that guarantees the people who make our gear are treated fairly and have safe working conditions.

Materials

All things can be improved through materials or design. Stagnation is not an option.

Hardgoods

100%

Bio Resin

Bio Resin is a bio-based epoxy made with 27% plant-based carbon instead of petroleum-based carbon. The organic raw materials used to make bio-resin are co-products or waste products of plant-based industrial processes.

100%

Recycled ABS

Since 2014, all of our snowboards and splitboards have been built with recycled ABS sidewalls. We've used 847 miles of sidewalls since switching to recycled ABS.

100%

Wend Bio Wax

Jones boards are ready to shred straight out of the shop and are factory waxed with Wend natural wax, a plant blend and biodegradable wax that is also non-toxic.

18,000 kgs

Of solvent eliminated

Amount of petroleum based solvent saved since eliminating the use of all solvents in 2016.

847 miles

Of recycled sidewalls

Amount of recycled ABS sidewalls used in our snowboard and splitboard production since 2014.

1,366 tons

Of CO2-eq. saved

Amount of greenhouse gases saved since switching to 100% solar power at our snowboard factory in May 2020.

How green is your board?
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)

No way around it. Building snowboards will always have an environmental impact. We recently completed a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) that calculated the approximate carbon footprint of every stage of a Jones board’s lifecycle - from sourcing raw materials, to manufacturing, to shipping, to throwing a retired board away.

Outerwear and Apparel

100%

Recycled Down

Every cluster of down fill we use is recycled. We source our RENU recycled down from retired apparel and bedding products. The down clusters are cleaned and sanitized before reuse.

100%

Responsible merino wool

Every yard of merino wool we use is Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) certified. RWS certification guarantees the animals are respected and the farm land is managed responsibly.

100%

Organic Cotton

Every yard of cotton we use is organic and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified. GOTS certification guarantees no chemical pesticides were used in the cotton production.

94%

PFC-Free DWR

94% of our outerwear is made with Durable Water Repellent treatments (DWR) that are free of any per-fluorinated compounds (PFC). The GORE-TEX PRO fabric we use is not available with PFC- Free DWR.

99.9%

Recycled outerwear fabric by volume

99.9% of the total volume we use in our outerwear fabrics is recycled.

97.8%

Bluesign® certified

97.8% of the fabric used in our outerwear is Bluesign certified. Bluesign certification guarantees the fabric is free from harmful chemicals and safe to both work with and wear.

All of the new outerwear, splitboards, snowboards and bindings you see today are our successful summit pushes. They are the dream lines that have been achieved through hard work, teamwork, and trust in the design process. We’re honored to share these product summits with you and we can’t wait to see where you take them. Because where they go from here, and what further summits and dream lines they unlock, is now up to you.
