Jones 2022 Bindings Collection:
Feel the power in every turn

Gear release

High powered snowboarding is an art form defined by subtleties. When you are riding at top speed or in technical terrain, your ability to feather speed and make micro direction changes determines your control. To ride smoothly in demanding situations, you need to be able to maneuver your board with unwavering precision.

Your snowboard bindings are the critical link between your body and board that unlock supreme board control. If you want to ride stronger, you need a binding that directs every movement you make to your board edges with maximum efficiency and pinpoint accuracy.

The Jones binding collection featuring Skate Tech technology is purpose built to offer such game changing board connection. Every binding in the line is a refined design that provides lightning fast response and supreme comfort for unmatched all-day performance.

For 21/22 we are excited to debut an expanded and upgraded Jones binding collection including the all-new Meteorite binding. The Meteorite is designed for the all-mountain rider that wants a stable and comfortable binding with a tweak-able medium soft flex. And just like the all-mountain focused Mercury, and the freeride focused Apollo bindings, the heart of the Meteorite is the NOW Skate Tech pivot system.

SkateTech is the answer.

The unique performance of Skate Tech bindings comes from the dynamic design of the baseplate. Traditional bindings lose energy when the rigid baseplate flexes and bends unevenly against the mounting disc. The energy loss forces you to crank your straps tighter and ride with more forward lean to gain the same control. Uneven pressure and tight straps also lead to more foot pain.

The Skate Tech system transfers energy input to the edges using a pivoting lever point between the baseplate and binding. The system transfers energy input evenly from the straps to the board edges by pivoting the baseplate on a post that holds the mounting disc. The baseplate is also cushioned by rubber bushings that absorb chatter.

By adding this dynamic suspension to the baseplate, the middle of your board flexes more uniformly and your feet stay more relaxed because the bindings transfer power to the board with less work. The bushings are also available in two different stiffnesses - soft + hard - for customized response.

1. Hanger 2.0 and 3.0

Hanger pivots on the Kingpin like a lever allowing lightning fast edge-to-edge energy transfer. True baseless design that delivers the most even board flex of any binding on the market.

2. Kingpin

The Kingpin is the fulcrum that the Hanger pivots on. Design magnifies energy transfer and enhances board response through leverage.

3. Post

The Post attaches the hanger to the kingpin and is the connection between binding and board.

4. Bushings

Bushings are the primary binding contact point and offer customizable response and dampening (Surf Mode and Freeride Mode).

Riding flat

SkateTech bindings feature a built-in dampening system for ultimate control bombing flat on your base. The baseplate rests on rubber bushings that absorb vibrations as you ride over rough snow. The binding also follows your every foot movement without altering the flex of the board and offers unmatched board feel for making micro edge adjustments as you ride flat.

Unmatched turn power

Power is transmitted directly to the edge. When you make a hard heel or tow turn, the force you place on your straps and highback is transferred directly to your edge through the hanger, kingpin and post. By using the mechanical advantage of the pivot and lever system, SkateTech bindings are the most responsive bindings in the world. Once on edge, you are locked in.

No comparison to traditional bindings

Power is transmitted to center disc. When you make a hard heel or toe turn on traditional bindings, the pressure you place on your straps goes into the fixed center disc and forces the binding baseplate to bend before power is delivered to the edges. Energy is concentrated at the center of the board with traditional rigid baseplates, which decreases potential turn power compared to SkateTech bindings.

When I started snowboarding we were drilling our boards and bolting down our bindings at the edge of the board. When the four-hole pattern came out we were psyched to stop drilling our boards, but it was clear that the four-hole disc attached in the center of the board did not offer the same edge power as drilling and bolting. When I first tried prototype Skate Tech bindings in 2009 I instantly connected with the concept and understood how it would help boost edge power. Testing it confirmed everything I saw. The Skate Tech design overcomes the limitations of the 4x4 insert pattern.

One disc for all

New for 21/22, we have eliminated the need to switch mounting discs for using Jones bindings on EST/Channel system boards. All Jones bindings now include a universal mounting disc compatible with traditional 4x4 inserts, 2x4, and the EST/Channel mounting system.

Freeride mode vs Surf mode

All three Jones bindings models offer customizable dampening and response by switching between Surf Mode and Freeride Mode. Surf Mode lets you tweak harder, while Freeride Mode keeps you locked in for maximum response. You can easily switch modes by changing the bushings from soft (Surf Mode) to hard (Freeride Mode) and swapping the Flip-It ankle straps between bindings.

Know your style,
choose your binding

Your riding style will determine whether the Meteorite, Mercury or Apollo is your perfect binding. If you’re an all-mountain rider who wants an easy-to-turn binding with a freestyle flex, check out the Meteorite. If you’re a freestylin’ freerider who wants a multi-talented binding that can handle top , check out the Mercury. And if you’re pedal to the metal freerider who needs maximum control at speed, the Apollo is the binding for you.
