SkateTech

The NOW Skate Tech system works like a skateboard truck and enhances board control + reduces foot fatigue by transferring energy input directly from the binding to the board edges through a dynamic design.

Skatetech Exploded Image

1. Hanger 2.0 & 3.0

Hanger pivots on the kingpin like a lever, allowing lightning fast edge-to-edge energy transfer. True baseless design that delivers the most even board flex of any binding on the market.

2. Kingpin

The kingpin is the fulcrum that the hanger pivots on. Design magnifies energy transfer and enhances board response through leverage,

3. Post

The post attaches the hanger to the kingpin and is the connection between binding and board.

4. Bushings

Bushings are the primary binding contact point and offer customizable response and dampening (Surf mode vs Freeride mode).

Riding Flat Image

Riding flat

Skate Tech bindings feature a built-in dampening system for ultimate control bombing flat on your base. The baseplate rests on rubber bushings that absorb vibrations as you ride over rough snow. The binding also follows your every foot movement without altering the flex of the board and offers unmatched board feel for making micro edge adjustments as you ride flat.

Skate tech turn Image

Unmatched turn power

Power is transmitted directly to the edge. When you make a hard heel or toe turn the force you place on your straps and highback is transferred directly to your edge through the hanger, kingpin and post. By using the mechanical advantage of this pivot and lever system, Skate Tech bindings are the most responsive bindings in the world. Once on edge, you are locked in.

Traditional Bindings Image

No comparison to traditional bindings

Power is transmitted through the center disk. When you make a hard heel or toe turn on traditional bindings the pressure you place on your straps goes into the fixed center disk and forces the binding baseplate to bend before power is delivered to the edges. Energy is concentrated at the center of the board with traditional rigid baseplates which decreases potential turn power compared to Skate Tech bindings

Freeride mode

Freeride mode

Position the wide half of the strap above the buckle for more lateral support and board response. Use Hard Bushings for maximum board response.

Surf mode

Surf mode

Position the wide half of the strap below the buckle for solid heel support but more ankle flexibility for getting loose. Use Soft Bushings for a looser, more dynamic feel.

Hello to all

Hello to all.I want to tell you about this bindings.I just started studying English,so sorry,if I will have mistakes.I buy this bindings less than month ago.It was my first experience of owning thing from jones. For the first time till lust riding it was very cool, responsive bindings.I liked it so much.I ride it about four times on a local ski slope ,about 1500 feet.Yesterday I have seen a huge crack on inside a base.I was really disappointed.I collect money on it about five months and then I will lose my season.please could jones answer on my letter

Hi Arsen,

Your English is great, and we hear you loud and clear! We are very sorry to hear about the crack in your Apollo Pro baseplate after only four days of riding. This is not the quality we expect. We have received your email and our warranty team will be reaching out to you immediately to help save your season!

Overall... sick!

Out of the box they were comfortable and super responsive. Mentioned throughout the first day how stoked I was with them. As advertised, great bindings. But, at the end of the day I noticed there was already some wear on the inside padding of the high back which was a bit disappointing to be happening so quickly.

I bought a Flagship 164 with Appllo bindings IT IS beautiful. Rode corduroy Temp 1 Board responded Shipping took 2 weeks and not even a sticker or personal note (packing slip with signature). However the board is badass thus far. This review is about the product not the vendor. The Flagship is gorgeous incredible Craftsmanship. Nice Job

Best Bindings Ever

I love the feel of these bindings. I'll be replacing my other set of bindings with these. The ratches are really smooth, the straps aren't stiff, and the bindings are really stuff. Really responsive when going down hill

Hi Johnathan,

We’re honored that the Apollo Pro has earned the title of 'Best Bindings Ever' in your book. Thanks for the review :)

Solid performance, TERRIBLE aftermarket support

Super responsive binding held back by limited adjustability and terrible aftermarket support (recommend Rome or Bataleon in comparison). Make sure this what you really want.

Positive: These are a precision weapon, and I love skate-tech with my freeride boards.

HOWEVER, wear and tear replacement parts/straps have been a nightmare. My apollos spent last season just collecting dust as a result. Hard to recommend these - my Astro FW got the job done while these $700 bindings were held back by less than $20 replacement parts.

Full saga below, recommend having backup bindings before investing in these.

Last season my local shop never received a “special order” from their Jones rep, despite constant follow-ups. I finally went to order direct last season - out of stock. While frustrating, that’s somewhat understandable as Feb/March is a high demand time. Fast forward 7 months…there’s now no spare parts available on their website. No worries, I chat with customer service about ordering some. Got confirmation they had the parts and would send them to me complimentary, just need to send a confirmation email. Awesome support, I’m feeling great about these guys….this was followed by 10 days of silence. Restarted comms via email this time - to their credit they were responsive and didn’t drop off comms. I was happy to order through them and pay, but ultimately they told me to order the compatible parts from #YES Snowboards. Fingers crossed the footbeds and other proprietary parts (highbacks) hold up.

SMH, what a headache.

Toe strap could be better,

Toe strap could be better, beyond that great bindings. Limited high back rotation would be nice, but not a must given curved highback.

Super powerful

These bindings are not for the faint of heart. They are stiff and ought to be paired with a stiff board. Very very responsive, comfortable (lg fit my sz 11 vans verse well), and lock into turns. Riding flat base at all, you can feel the skate tech push you a bit from edge to edge, but once you’re decisive about where you’re going, it really does work.
The high back adjustment is a bit finicky, but once it’s set, I leave it alone anyhow.

Great bindings, stiff and responsive.

I bought these in 2022 and have had a couple years on them. They have been great. Very stiff and responsive for how thin and lightweight they are. I haven't messed with the freeride vs surf mode but. . . . Looking at the specs recently i feel like im missing out. I might need some replacement parts as the right back piece is starting to crack across the carbon fiber but its nice to see parts are available and reasonable price

Top of the line

Have no chance to tried yet however the materials and construction looks up of my expectations.
Definetly i cannot wait to ride them

These are amazing!!!

These things wire my board to my brain. They are super responsive and stiff. The speed at which they transfer body movement to the snow is astounding. They are super easy to adjust to find the perfect fit across the boot. The forward lean is also easy to flip from aggressive to relaxed depending on your mood. These bindings are obviously built to last. The base and highbacks are super solid and well built. It also appears that most of the parts are modularly replaceable in the case of failure, meaning I will be riding these bindings for a long time to come.

Best binding I have ever used!

Wow, these bindings are incredible. At first glance they have stunning look to them! Easy mounting and strap adjustment to get your boot perfectly snug. Took them out on a powder day and the free ride mode was perfection. Took them to a groomer park day in surf mode and I was floating around the resort like riding a wave. I will now only ride these bindings anytime I am not on my split. Can’t suggest these strongly enough. Just buy them!

Best Binding I have ever

Best Binding I have ever ridden it feels like I am glued to my snowboard and I have become one with the board!!!

Would be 5 stars. Love the stiffness, response and dampening but...

I don't feel like the bindings need the wide wings up top on the highback. When I cranked down the ankle straps, it would unlock the boa on my boots. I have to cut out the wing on the high back. These are not compatible with most boa boots due to this. And as I also ride stiff boots, most of them have boa systems. I suggest future designs lose the wing up top or make the highback rotationally adjustable.

The high back is not durable.

Unfortunately the carbon high back starts to deteriorate after a very short amount of time. Contact points where the heel cup touches the carbon have started to wear after 7 days.

Hi Lewis, thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you're having issues with your high back. Are there pictures you could provide us so that we could see what the issue is? Also, have you submitted a warranty claim to see about getting them replaced?

Apollo Bindings

It took me years to find the perfect bindings for freeriding as I am really picky about confort and trust. The Apollo bindings are just perfect for any terrain, they are confortable and precise to ride big powder field to steep mountain riding ! Love it

Unreal Binding

Love having these bindings when riding lines, hitting pillows, and riding fast in the PNW. They have stiff high backs but yet very responsive. If you want a hard charging binding, this is the binding for you. Absolutely love these bindings

Great bindings - could still use a few tweaks.

Just upgraded from an older pair of Apollo's and really liking the new toe/ankle straps. Comfortable and more responsive. The only changes I would make would be to stiffen the ankle strap a further 10-15% and make it slightly shorter. I run a size 12 boot (although lower volume) and I'm on the shortest strap setting in a size large binding.

Very Stiff - Experts Only

Having ridden the Now Pilots for two years, I've become a big fan of skatetech and I settled on these in my search for something more responsive. I've ridden the Burton X-Base in the past and I figured that these looked like a similar product but with the benefit of skatetech. They are definitely very responsive bindings from edge to edge, but I find them to be too stiff laterally and on a recent ten-day trip to the mountains I experienced a lot of calf bite on the long top-to-bottom alpine runs. It was so bad that three days in I had to buy something else because these are just not comfortable. I've been riding for 20 years, I'm a level 2 instructor, and I've never experienced this much discomfort in a binding before. I see this as a niche product for experts only, and unless you know exactly what you're getting into with a super stiff binding like this I'd strongly recommend going with something like the Mercury's instead.

Mix NOW plates and Jones highbacks.... Bulletproof!

Super responsive binders from my favorite Snowboard MFG. I also ride the NOW IPO and so already know the benefits of the "skate tech". The Jones ankle strap and stiff/tall highback are an improvement on the NOW bindings. The tool free forward lean adjusters work well, but limitations on 0-12 degree or 4-8 degree choices and need an allen key to change the option. RECOMMENDED!!!!
