Incredible performance and shape, this board is so much fun to ride!

This board is incredible.
I have been riding it on all kinds of huge adventures - deep pow to narrow shoots, to high alpine north faces. It's a dream. Definitely adventure approved!

This board is worth every dollar if you're doing missions or objective riding. I used this board for years in Rogers Pass and big link-up days in the Wasatch. It is the real deal. But I will say that Carbon gets thrown around as a medium in my opinion. I prefer the straight Hoverboard (non carbon) as it's damper, rides better and reacts better. I find carbon to be too light to the touch when you are in variable terrain, chop, or garbage. If you're in the objective phase of your riding, get it. If you're old and making art work, get a Hovercraft.

I recently switched to Jones from Burton and spend my winters guiding backcountry splitboarding. I’m usually a major skeptic and don’t buy into the typical marketing. I want to make something perfectly clear, the hype on this board is no BS. It’s an absolute dream in gaining and losing elevation. Stoked I made the plunge and picked one up.

The lightest splitboard I’ve ridden that doesn’t sacrifice ride quality in any way.

Helps me keep up with Inaki on the up hills and keep me floating on the way down, stoked on the new shape of the hovercraft and the ultralight is just insane.

I've been a dedicated Ultracraft rider for the last 6+ years. If I got on another shape coming back to the Ultra felt like coming home so I was skeptical when I heard that a re-shape was in the works. After a few months riding the new shape I can testify it's everything I loved about the old shape and maybe a bit more. I typically rode a 160 Ultracraft (I'm about 175 pounds without gear) and the new shape (hovercraft light) is about the the same waist width in a 156 as the 160 was providing the same speed stability, crust busting, and snappy turning I'm used to into a smaller (and lighter) board. On top of that, the white top sheet is much better for preventing snow/ice build up on the top sheet for as long as possible. White does a much better job than black at keeping the top sheet cold/not gathering snow. This makes a huge difference over the course of a big day in the mountains as having your top sheet covered in snow easily adds a couple of pounds to each side of the splitboard. Super stoked on the new shape!

I have about 15 days on my Ultracraft 156 including 7 days at touring out of the Hilda Hut in the Slekirks BC during a fantastic storm cycle. I was nervous about the short size considering that my weight (185 without backpack) is pushing the edge of the suggest weight for that board. But I ride a size 9 boot which is smaller than suggested for the longer 160 size and I was worried about the wider edge-to-edge width of that longer board. I do think my 156 board rides a tad slower than my more traditional shaped split (a 165 Prior BC) but the UC is WAY more manueverable though trees in deep powder. In order for my old board to float to the point where it was easy to turn I had to be riding faster than I wanted to in tight treed runouts. The Ultracraft doesn't have that issue at all.

My fears about the UC not being stable on high speed, longer radius turns were put to bed once I used it in that kind of terrain. I did notice my turns tend to be a bit more rounded and short radius compared to my other board but the ride never feels wobbly or unstabe. And shoot, I'm getting older (48) and am enjoying working the terrain differently than I did in my straightlining days.

If Jones offered this board in a 160 length with the same waist width as the 156 it would probably be perfect for me but I have no regrets on the 156. WIth my full BC kit I'm weighing in at 208 lbs.

The downsides I've noticed are more related to the Karakoram hardware. Between the camlock tip/tail clips and the mechanized yin-yang clips, there's three different sizes of allen wrenches needed to keep things tight. And all of that stuff has needed to be tighted repeatedly in the field. In fact, the tip clip (which threads directly into the board) would always tigthen or loosen itself while working the clip. I installed a longer bolt with nyloc nut to fix that but don't think that was too cool. The nut now messes with my climbing skin install as it interferes with the tip wire on my skin. Carrying three different allen wrenches in my repair kit is an unnecesary hassle. Maybe team up with Spark RnD and agree on one size of bolt head to use for EVERYTHING on the board.

I also wish it was available with a white topsheet. Maybe it's just superstition but I think smooth white topsheets limit snow build up on the top of the board which keeps things less heavy.

All in all I love it and have recommended it to my friends.

I've only had this out once so far, but nothing but amazingness so far.
Great on the skin track, love the pro skins and the perfect fit, made applying and managing skins in transition easier too.
I got the 156 which is what I would ride and the resort and this thing floated like a dream. For comparison, I had a 159 straight chuter split on the same skin track and general area days before, the SC would dip the nose a bit, would get bogged down with snow, and overall floated okay. The ultracraft seemed to shed snow on the track, never seemed to build up like my other decks, the nose just wanted to float above the soft snow, and just generally felt like a missile when I pointed it down, big hard carves felt amazing, but still could hit tight wiggles if I wanted to lay em' down next to my ski buddies. Feels like the perfect do anything and everything board. Couldn't be happier.

I loved this board. The shape is sublime. The level of thought that went into everything is excellent. The light weight is really felt both on the up track and while spinning. Unfortunately, I broke my beloved ultracraft. After reading these reviews it seems like it is no an isolated incident. Since I purchased the board (new) on eBay, Jones would not look into warranting the board. Now I am left with a very expensive wall piece and no faith in Jones.

Best all-around splitboard ever made. I've learned that I can rely on it to handle any kind of snow and any kind of terrain, no matter how serious.

Perhaps one of the best mountain tools ever created. Its perfect for making big turn in big terrain or small turns in small terrain. This board will do it all. My go to!

Incredible board for all condition big missons. Really light board but at the same time you really trust your edge and holds fast turns. Ive been using the 156 and never dissapointed me. From deep powder days to big icy chutes.

I've been riding this board nearly every day for the past 5 seasons well over 100 days/season. You'd think I'd get bored of riding the same shape but every time I try something different I can't wait to get back on my Ultracraft. This board excels in every type of snow condition imaginable and somehow both stable at high speeds and fun/bouncy at slower speeds. I've ridden this board on everything from high altitude descents in the Karakoram to low angle glade cruising in the Sierra to late season volcano descents and it always leaves me with a smile on my face. In the hundreds of days I've spent on this board I've only broken 2 and they were both due to me running into trees or rocks, no fault whatsoever of the board and I've been pleasantly surprised many times to see no damage to my board after a big impact. I'd recommend a narrow/directional stance to really squeeze out every ounce of enjoyment on this board. You won't be disappointed!

Best board I’ve ever ridden! Sadly I broke it after only two months, hopefully I’ll get a new one due to warranty issues before the next season.

The Ultracraft really is the most amazing board I’ve ridden, it’s stable at high speeds, carves effortlessly, and floats in powder. It took me exactly zero turns to “get used to it”, it was that amazing from the start. I had to think hard about possible improvements, and I came up with two minor items. 1) it would be nice to have a color other than black so when it’s sunny all the snow on the top deck doesn’t melt and turn to ice in the shade, but I realize it’s carbon so maybe it’s not so easy. 2) the end clips are a little small and they get hard to work when my hands get really cold, so having the, be slightly larger would be handy. But hey, these aren’t complaints by any means, I would still recommend the Ultracraft heartily. Oh, I love Jones’ ethics too, keep it up!

Absolutely happy with the Ultracraft - does exactly what I hoped it would. I was surprised how noticeable the lower weight is on the way up. On the 160 Ultracraft I'm usually about 10% faster on the way up and get less tired (comparing to the 158 Mind Expander, 165W Solution and 159W Mountain Twin). Side-hilling is pretty decent thanks to the camber profile and relatively stiff flex. The Ultracraft is definitely a board you can take for long tours.

On the way down I'd rate the Ultracraft as a nice backcountry all-rounder. To me it sits right between the Solution and Mind Expander: not quite as nimble and playful as the Mind Expander but in exchange still very capable on "bigger" lines (steeper terrain, the odd ice patch, etc.).

it's a Grat board, which makes lots of fun to ride it. Unfortunately the quality of the edges or the used resin isn't that good - Why? by harder snow Pack my back edge delaminetd:pensive:
