Details

Shape & profile

A snowboard's outline defines many of its characteristics, from how it turns or floats in powder to its performance riding switch. Shape affects everything from the width and taper of the nose and tail, to the position of the stance relative to the board's center.

Shape image

[Shape]

Directional

A directional outline with a longer nose, shorter tail and setback stance to optimize float, maneuverability and edge power. Designed for riders who prioritize performance on groomers and in the backcountry over park riding.

[Pr0file]

Freeride CamRock

Versatile freeride profile featuring camber underfoot with an extended nose rocker and shorter tail rocker. This generates powerful edge hold, precise response and confidence at speed, combined with exceptional float and maneuverability in powder.

[Tracti0n_tech]

High Traction Tech

High Traction Tech features three bumps per edge (front binding, board center, back binding). The middle bump is bigger than the outside bumps for better grip and control.

[Taper]

Medium Tapered

A sweet-spot for directional shapes that need to float in powder but still hold their own across variable snow and terrain. Nimble in deep snow, precise on piste and versatile enough to handle a full day on the mountain. Any shape with 10–15mm of taper between the nose and tail.

3D Contour Base

Shape image

Surf-inspired shaping for next-level performance.

Inspired by the rounded bottom contours of surfboards, 3D Contour Bases are designed to make every run smoother and every turn more effortless by reducing the drag of the board tips. 3D Contour Bases enhance glide and improve float, helping you ride faster and with better flow. Learn more

[3d_pr0file]

High 3D Contour Base

Freeride focused 3D Contour Base featuring 7mm of spoon bevel in the nose and 0-7mm of spoon bevel in the tail. Spoon bevel starts just before the contact points.

How it works

Riding flat
Riding flat

When riding flat, the spoon bevel on the edges is not engaged, but it does help smoothly deflect snow away from the nose of the board.

Turn initiation
Turn initiation

As you begin to make a turn, the spoon bevel helps you smoothly roll the board on to your egde with less friction and edge drag.

Mid turn
Mid turn

In the middle of a turn, camber and Traction Tech keep you locked onto your egde in the center of the board while the spoon bevel reduces the "plow effect" of your nose and tail edges.

Ultralight = ultra fragile

Ultralight but ultra fragile. Incredible experience on this board, but it’s so fragile it hardly seems worth it in hindsight. You really have to baby this thing. I had a minor, low speed impact with a stump that busted the core. The board nearly cracked in half. It was the most anticlimactic totaling of a board you could possibly imagine. I’m not mad, just incredibly disappointed. It was a blast to ride but I’d never consider the board again.

The Hovercraft Hovers

I've only had the Hovercraft for a few weeks now and had it out for some great days and it does Hover nicely. I can even ride it switch nicely in the tight trees. I have ridden the Hovercraft in deep POW and on fast groomers and it rocks in it all. It does ride and measure long so really the 156 = a standard 158 board. I originally ordered the 160 and stacked it against my 158 and it was the same or longer. So order the shorter size, really, my 156 rides like my past 158s and I'm good with it. It rides super fast and rocks. It has a little bit of standard camber which is the only area I think it could get better, it could use a bit more chamber. Other than that this board is the best I've been on in a while and in all conditions.

Super playful board for soft conditions.

I've got a 24' 156 Project X. I'm 46yo, 5"8, 75kg, riding mostly France, Switzerland and some Japan pow. Approx 75days+ per year on the mountain every winter for 25 years. I've taken this board in every possible conditions. I like it most in small pow (knee deep is best) and softer/good conditions. It loves slush too because of the spoon nose. End of day destroyed runs becme little bank slaloms on this ! :) And it pops so good everywhere. I often take it to the park too, on small/medium kickers and boxes. Nothing too serious but it really shines with a ton of energy in the tail. It's not the best for pow deeper than knee/thigh even with maximum set back, and also doesn't like super high speeds on harder snow. No matter how tuned my edges are it feels best a slow/medium speeds, and short turns, where the flex responds well edge to edge. Maybe I should have grabbed the 159 for my weight? I use it mostly on slushy days to f k around the mountain and small pow days, although my GF tends to steal it then. She's 10-15kg lighter than me and it seems to suit her better, especially in pow. For more serious pow and backcountry adventures we both switch to a 161 Ultra FS and FS Pro. I left a review of those on the board's page. I recommend the board if you want a high end, light and playful board for nothing too crazy. Then it's a really good, versatile choice.

Very smooth ride , carving

Very smooth ride , carving machine , definitely a top tier board for all conditions, I love my stratos and this adds another dimension, builds confidence for bombing down the mountain, stiffer than stratos , such a comfortable ride ,

One board to rule them all.

Solid board. Felt tight in turns and locked in to anything I was making carves across (ice, slush, fresh groomers). Haven’t had a chance to test in powder.

2022 jonnes oroject X 156

Been on this board 31 days this season what a clean ride. Very quick edge to edge holds turn the best ever.

Thought I would need a longer board for powder but the float pack binding mounts are spot on for my 145lb. frame.

Tracks well at high speed.

Project X board

The Project X is definitely my favorite board. It adapt perfectly to any terrain and it is playful and strong. Big powder fields to steep mountains this is the ONE I take with me everywhere.

Board size and stiffness

Hello. I know that 2021 boards are tougher than what you stated and some sellers advise taking a smaller size than necessary. Tell me, will the boards remain the same rigid in 2022, or will they be closer to your declared value of 7?

My weight with equipment is about 90 kg, height 180, foot size 42. Tell me, is 156 or 160 sizes from the 2020 collection better for me? If you answer that 160 is better, is it okay that my foot size is not as big as you recommend for this size?

156 Hovercraft

This board is so much fun!! It flies through groomers with little to no chatter. I was able to find fresh powder and even though I’m 200 lbs it floated on top with ease. Get one you won’t be disappointed. I’m going to have a hard time picking between the flagship and the hovercraft. Keep doing what your doing Jones!! FYI their customer service in top notch.

Holy eff!!!

I LOVE this board!! It rips everything... well, almost everything. It is NOT good on icy hell, which makes sense as a pow slayer. But this board has been so much fun on everything else.

Exceptional with one problem...

This board brought me into the fold of modern snowboarding technology. I have been riding for 30 years, Vermont, NY, Mass, and the last 20 in Colorado, Utah and now call Tahoe my mountain home. I had never ridden anything like this, nimble, quick, light and easy to turn in powder, trees and exceptional on hard pack. I love this board and bought it in a solid and split. You gain so much and only sacrifice the board being truly (and somewhat uniquely) directional. Everytime I show up on a powder day, I feel like people look at me w the Hovercraft as if to say "this dude means business". So, what's the problem with this board? The problem is they made the Mind Expander, which I have fallen for even more. Amazing boards, I won't buy anything else at this stage.

This thing changed my life

I always rode regular shapes in pow until the Hovercraft opened my eyes to what was possible with a shorter board with higher volume. This thing kills it!

Always never not hovercrafting

Pow? Hovercraft. Crud? Hovercraft. Mashed potatoes? Hovercraft. Trees? Hovercraft. Groomers? Hovercraft. Ice? Hovercraft. I literally do not ride any other board in the resort. This is the greatest snowboard of all time.
