Really enjoy this board. I've used it for a couple seasons matched up with my Drift boards for ascending pow here in Utah. We also have a Grassroots, Konvoi, Asmo, Paper, 4D, and Burton and the Jones continues to be a favorite. I can't say it's necessarily "better" or worse than the others, they all have unique personalities and pros and cons depending on riding style and snow conditions. I would describe this as on the loose and surfy side, but not as loose as my grassroots magic carpet, while being more loose than most of the European brands (asmo, konvoi, paper...) What I can say is, the board has impeccable construction, it's relatively lightweight, and I love the traction pad, (In particular how thin it is. You end up closer to the snow than a lot of other boards.) I also appreciate the bigger size option as a big guy with big feet. I generally like to give my money to more "core" pow surf brands, but there's no denying this one is well done. And it comes with a leash, which almost everyone else wants to charge you extra for.

l was looking forward to my first ride on the Mountain Surfer 152 with great anticipation. After 4 years on the Burton Family Tree 140 pow surfer, it took about 4 runs to get used to the wider board but once I got my stance dialed in, it was great. Floats way higher and is therefore faster in deeper pow, allowing me to blaze trail for the Burtons who have to follow. Added a bunch of the Burton traction spikes as the rubber foam mats were a bit slippery once the snow started sticking but now I have zero traction issues and am loving every ride on it. After 10 years of pow surfing at our local closed down community ski resort in the interior of BC, I'm having as much fun or more than ever! Thinking about the 142 now. . .

This board is awesome, super surfy and easy to control in deep pow. It gets a little squirrely on any hardpack or crust which is to be expected.

I honestly did not expect this board to be so much fun and easy to ride. We have a nice big pasture at 30 degree slope in front of our place and I have ridden it now about 10 times after a storm and have a bigger and bigger smile on my face after every ride. I take my 3 year old son between my legs on the boars and on 30cm fresh snow we can do some nice turns amd he loves it. Good tip they gave me in Zero G store in Chamonix was to ride it with soft Sorrel type snow boots and it makes a difference

First time surfer, great shape and it handled smooth as butter! Was too much fun, bring on the snow!

Loved my Mountain Surfer so much the whole fam has them now. Easier to ride than you might think, but definitely shines brightest when the snow is fresh.

Great board to enjoy the first snowfalls with the family! Really technical but surprinsingly accessible as well!

This powsurf has given me the option to turn high avy danger days into the best days on low angle terrain. I am convinced there is no better way to up the fun factor while simultaneously reducing risk. The big nose makes for effortless float in the pow and fun surfy turns out of the tail. The 3D base gives it a bouncy feel from edge to edge, much like that of a surfboard in water. This is the best way to just feel like a kid playing in the snow again.

It's my favourite board to cruise at high speeds. Extremely stable and lots of pop.
It's a wonderful resort rasor.
Not really suitable or any butters or freestyle riding, very hard to press even with my 87kg. I have another board for that.
Not designed for pow at all, you have to sit hard on your back leg. I always take my Storm Chaser for woods and fields.

I’ve been powsurfing on different boards (noboards, grassroots, my own creations) since about 2004. I saw this board at a demo tent and fell in love. It looked like it had a lot of features that would have incorporated into my own designed if I had access to 3-D molds.

First the good parts.

The construction is great, light yet strong, p-Tex base, and a bit of concave for traction.

Now for the bad news

upon riding it it was overdesigned. Huge spoon in the super-wide nose helps it float, but also rides loose. And the tail channels help create a powerful backend.

But they don’t work well all that together. It looks good on paper, but it was a bit of a struggle to turn it, the channels are so deep the kind of lock you in almost like a carve, especially in heavier snow.

To make a board more balanced all the main areas need to be detuned a fair bit. The guy might design great surfboards, but I don’t think he’s powsurfed enough to understand the subtleties needed.

For the same price I’d definitely recommend a Shark or Grassroots instead.

I grew up surfing in Hawaii. Fell in love with snowboarding when my family moved to the mainland. I dont even own one and this was one of the most fun boards I have ever rode. My neighbor has both sizes, we were ripping his backyard last night. the way this turns in fresh powder is just incredible. the float and control was insane. was doing ollies over rollers and dropping lil ledges on this beast and it rode so well. I want one.

A must to have in your quiver of boards.

I loved the 142 from last year, but I purchased this year's 152 since I';m a bigger guy. I almost can't wait to ride it.
Question, it came with the leash from last year's model, but the description says it comes with an upgraded coil leash. Help?

had the mountain twin before and the flagship, this one is exactly my board :sweat_smile:. realy nice in pow, for carving on slopes and some tricks and fakie...
just a bit sad you „downgraded“ the base this year. gonna keep my 18/19 aviator cause of that :grimacing:

Ottima tavola per piste perfettamente tirate. Sono passato da una Aviator del 2015 a questa e devo dire che quella vecchia mi dava pií¹ feeling al massimo angolo di inclinazione, probabilmente la nuova è pií¹ tecnica e va oltre le mie capacità .

Ex skier/ski tourer now snowboarder. I wanted to replace my 2008 nitro magnum as it needed retirement as really battered and bruised. I watched Mr Jones videos and as now I only do 6-10 days a year and mostly freeze thaw resort conditions in Austria and France the Aviator it was. Bought end of last season rode it this season 10 days. I had all conditions starting with fresh snow and off piste at the side of the runs and unpisted routes, freeze thaw including wet slush and then bulletproof ice one morning. The aviator was a dream in all conditions and the faster you go the better it performs. I am mostly on resort runs getting small air here and there but when it snows the aviator was great off piste. Stable at speed and not catchy I loved motoring at full speed on this board. I caught a few large rocks off piste on separate days but nothing that wasn't repairable. Wise words from Mr Jones buy the board what suits what you do the largest percentage of the time and that is your daily driver. Thanks

Best board I had in many years! The Aviator performs really good in all conditions. It carves like a dream in both directions, and it rides pow really nice! I think it has the perfect balance of early rise and camber witch is my prefered shape for jumping. All i need now is a Aviator split!

Pop, speed and control. I enjoyed riding it all winter, all mountain go-to.

Finally decided to get my own board after years of hiring. After a lot of research, finally went with the Aviator. Best decision I could of made, super stable at speed whilst still being forgiving and responsive. Went for Jones because of their backcountry focus and the Aviator does excel in all areas, although does lack some float in the really deep stuff. Hovercraft definitely on the wish list!

Aviator ia one of the best boards I have ever ridden. It is classic camber with modern materials , that makes board very snappy. But it is not for amateurs. You have to know how to press hard. And the faster you go, and you will go fast with aviator, the more you going to love it and better control you will have.
