Blending both snowboard and surfboard tech, the Storm Chaser is the latest offspring of Jones’ design partnership with surfboard shaper Chris Christenson. Chris designed the rocker profile of the Storm Chaser by using the refined contours of his fastest glding short boards. The result is an explosively fast powder rocket that packs insane float into a nimble, short board. The ultra-wide waist width maximizes the float of the short running length and the Surf Rocker profile pops the nose even further out of the snow when you rock into a bottom turn. New for 2017, the Storm Chaser has a Spoon 4.0 Nose and a Speed Channel Tail. The edges of the Spoon nose are beveled up for improved float and turn fluidity while the tail edges are beveled up for less catch.
Our most advanced 3D-base contour pattern featuring distinct spoon bevel in the nose, moderate spoon bevel in the tail and a shallow Speed Channel between the tail edges. The concave Speed Channel pushes loose snow out from under the board for added speed.
Custom tip/tail rocker profile designed by surf shaper Chris Christenson for the Mountain Surfer and Storm Chaser. The nose rocker starts just inside of the front inserts and the tail rocker starts just at the back inserts. When you weight the tail of the board the nose ramps up out of the snow for insane float on the deepest days.
These subtle rocker contours match a Christenson surfboard rocker profile.
The first template of the Storm Chaser was a thin piece of wood hand drawn and cut by Chris Christenson and Jeremy Jones in Jeremy’s garage. They used Chris’ surf shaping tools to outline the shape and rocker profile. The hand written notes delineate subtle rocker contours and dimensions.
Surfboards and snowboards share more than just a riding stance. Both of these sideways sliding pursuits demand an ultra fast gliding board that allows e ortless, friction free movement through the water or snow. More glide equals more speed and more options for riding creativity.
To blend the best of surfboard technology with snowboard technology, we forged a design partnership with renowned San Diego surfboard shaper Chris Christenson. Chris is one of the most diverse surf shapers in the world and makes everything from contest boards to longboards and record breaking big
The Mountain Surfer, Storm Chaser and Storm Chaser Split are the first o spring of our collaboration with Chris. All three of these hand shaped, surf-inspired boards feature the subtleties and contours of Chris’ fastest surf shapes including a Surf Rocker Profile, Spoon Nose and Speed Channel Tail.
To no surprise, these boards are the fastest gliding boards in the Jones quiver.
