Details

Shape & profile

A snowboard's outline defines many of its characteristics, from how it turns or floats in powder to its performance riding switch. Shape affects everything from the width and taper of the nose and tail, to the position of the stance relative to the board's center.

Shape image

[Shape]

Directional

A directional outline with a longer nose, shorter tail and setback stance to optimize float, maneuverability and edge power. Designed for riders who prioritize performance on groomers and in the backcountry over park riding.

[Taper]

Low Tapered

A subtle taper that aids directional performance but keeps the ride feeling balanced and dynamic on piste and resort terrain. Popular with riders who like to carve the resort or push freestyle in the backcountry, without giving up versatility on the powder days. Any shape with a taper of less than 10mm between the nose and tail.

3D Contour Base

Shape image

Surf-inspired shaping for next-level performance.

Inspired by the rounded bottom contours of surfboards, 3D Contour Bases are designed to make every run smoother and every turn more effortless by reducing the drag of the board tips. 3D Contour Bases enhance glide and improve float, helping you ride faster and with better flow. Learn more

[3d_pr0file]

Medium 3D Contour Base

3D Contour Base tuned for all-terrain featuring 4mm of spoon bevel in the nose and 0-4mm of spoon bevel in the tail. Spoon bevel starts just before the contact points.

How it works

Riding flat
Riding flat

When riding flat, the spoon bevel on the edges is not engaged, but it does help smoothly deflect snow away from the nose of the board.

Turn initiation
Turn initiation

As you begin to make a turn, the spoon bevel helps you smoothly roll the board on to your egde with less friction and edge drag.

Mid turn
Mid turn

In the middle of a turn, camber and Traction Tech keep you locked onto your egde in the center of the board while the spoon bevel reduces the "plow effect" of your nose and tail edges.

Perfect board for the groomers!

Getting back into snowboarding at 43 after a 25 year break, I picked up the Jones Freecarver 6000s (154) with Apollo bindings and what a day it turned into at Mt. Sunapee in New Hampshire.

I live and ride 100% on the East Coast, so I was dealing with icy spring conditions, but this board handled it. It carved beautifully, felt responsive, and stayed stable even on the hard ice pack. I’m athletic and the board handled everything I threw at it. As the day progressed I felt more and more comfortable with the hard turns and deep carving.

I had an absolute blast and couldn’t be happier getting back into it. Im so happy I went with the Jones board. The only problem I ran into is trying to decide which additional Jones board I can order for those powder days next winter! Thanks Jones!

Hi there. Thanks for sharing this, really appreciate the detailed feedback. It’s awesome to hear that getting back into riding after such a long break turned into such a strong day on the mountain. Especially on East Coast conditions, it’s great that our freecarver gave you the edge hold and stability you needed on that icy spring snow. Sounds like it really delivered exactly where it matters for carving: confidence in the turns, responsiveness and enough stability to push deeper into your riding as the day went on, that progression feeling is always the best part. Also love that it already has you thinking about a second board for powder days… that’s usually how the quiver starts ;) Really appreciate you taking the time to leave this. Keep shredding.

Rode it today

Rode it today. Absolutely amazing. I never thought that i could ride sooo fast and still be in control. Confidence and stability at speed. Had alot of people complement me about how the board looked and asked a lot of questions. I told them that it made me so much better. It would start my carve and it would ride like it was on rails. I was carving trenches. The Best board that i have ridden after coming back after 30 yrs. A leap in technology.

Hi Benjamin. Thanks a lot for the great feedback, really happy to hear this! That’s exactly the kind of experience this board is designed for: stability at speed, strong edge hold and confident, locked-in carving. Hearing that it helped you push your riding and feel that “on rails” sensation is awesome. Also love that it sparked conversations on the mountain, always a good sign when a board stands out both in feel and looks. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience! Keep shredding.

If this board was a song, it would definitely be Prodigy’s FIRESTARTER

This was my first carving board, and it got me into carving addiction. I have tried quite a few boards after that, but NONE has given me the pleasure and fun that 6000s is offering me.

I am 77 kg, 1,74m tall, boot size EU41,5, and I ride the 154 board with +36 front and +12 rear

I am now thinking to buy one more 6000s this time the 162 size in order to get a bit more effective edge and a slightly bigger sidecut radius but I am not sure if my weight is enough for 162 board

Hey, thanks for sharing your stoke on the Freecarver 6000s Snowboard!

We love hearing it got you hooked on carving — that’s exactly the kind of fun this board is built for. For the 162, your weight is on the lighter side, but with slightly looser stance and careful edging, it can still be a smooth ride. Definitely a fun option if you’re chasing more effective edge and bigger arcs.

I’ve been looking for this board my whole life… I bought this and the 9000s and realized I have to keep both. This thing is mayhem on the mountain. So nimble so quick so sharp. It carves like a dream. I know the description says short tight turns but it holds sizable carves at speed. Total control. Playful to the point where I’m tricking off of every side hit and bump. The pop on it is exactly what I need. Slashing every bank like I’m riding a wave then ripping into a blistering carve. The 6000s is like a crotch rocket/street bike and the 9000s is a rocket ship. High speed carves from trail width to trail width practically laying on the ground. I use the 9000s for first chair corduroy huge fast turns and then switch out to the 6000s as the day goes on or when I need to slow it up with some friends and let them catch up while I slash and jump down the mountain. That 9000s is so fast i had to get different goggles due to the wind making my eyes water and blur. I only hit the breaks on this thing during trail intersections and slow signs or if the board starts airing out of the mountain too much. They nailed these. Will be my main resort board unless I’m going steep and deep or married to the park.

Hi M3,

It sounds like you’ve found the perfect carve quiver with the 6000s and 9000s! We love hearing how much spark and joy the 6000s is bringing to your side hits and slashes. Thanks for the incredible review :)

All mountain riding, step riding and a curving monster!!!

The Jones Freecarver 6000s is an absolute carving monster that still feels surprisingly capable across the whole mountain. Its tight 6-meter sidecut, long effective edge, and directional camber make it a trench-digging machine that loves laying down deep euro-carves and lightning-fast edge-to-edge transitions on groomers. Unlike many dedicated carving boards, it’s versatile enough for all-mountain cruising, side hits, and steeper terrain, making it a fantastic quiver board for riders who prioritize carving but don’t want to be limited to one type of run. If your idea of fun is railing turns and leaving pencil-line tracks in the snow, the Freecarver 6000s delivers a huge grin factor every single run.

This review genuinely made our day, thank you! You've described exactly what we set out to build: a board that locks into deep euro-carves and lightning-fast transitions on groomers, but doesn't leave you stranded when the mountain opens up.

That versatility was the hardest thing to dial in, so hearing it works as a true quiver board for riders who love to carve is everything. Keep railing those turns and leaving those pencil-line tracks! Keep shredding.

BEST CARVING BOARD FOR THE GROOMERS

BEST BOARD I HAVE EVER USED. TESTED YESTERDAY ON THE SOLDA GLACIER ORTLES-CEVEDALE AND I MUST SAY THAT IT'S REALLY FUN ON THE HARD AND COMPACT MORNING SNOW. THE EDGE KEEPS YOU PLACED LIKE ON A RAIL UNTIL THE END OF THE TURN AND PROJECTS YOU TO THE NEXT ONE IN A RHYTHMICAL AND FAST WAY. SHORT AND MEDIUM RADIUS TURNS, FAST AND STABLE. WITH THE MERCURY BINDINGS IT'S A PERFECT COMBINATION.

Thanks Ale!

Stoked to hear the Freecarver 6000s delivered exactly what it’s built for—locked-in edge hold, fast transitions, and that rhythmic carve feeling on hardpack. Sounds like you really got to experience it in prime conditions at Solda.

Exactly as advertised

Took me about 2 years to finally pull the trigger and the board is trully amazing. I have seen a lot of review videos and I can say they're correct. This board is fun, do yourself a favor and just buy it. You won't regret it, I sure didn't, even though my wife is still mad at me for bying "another board"...

Hi Martin, thank you so much for your positive review! We're thrilled to hear that you finally decided to give it a try and that it lived up to your expectations. We understand that sometimes it can be hard to justify buying another board but we're glad you did and that you're enjoying it. Keep shredding! :)

Freecarver 6000

I have 10 days on this in mixed conditions, from rock hard piste to 300mm of soft snow, this board carves and is fun to ride .. the more you put into the carve the deeper it digs, riding off piste it surprised me with loads of float not too tough on the rear leg - chasing a Hovercraft it was a lot more responsive than I expected and I stayed on it the whole trip even though I had quiver with me. I love this board because it really does everything well and excels on piste without being overly stiff.

Hey Keith,
Ten days in mixed conditions is a proper test and it sounds like the Freecarver 6000s passed with flying colours.
Keeping up with a Hovercraft off-piste is no small thing either!
Really glad it's found its way to the right rider. Enjoy every carve.

Ride on,

Sweet spot

I’ve had my eye on this board for a while. As an aspiring carver, I’ve put significant effort into precision turns with some good results on low angle terrain. Most boards will do pretty well in those conditions if you move them right. But the steeps, that’s where I wanted to go, and with high pressure turns, fully locked in. I noticed the difference immediately on riding this board. It’s sweet! The longer effective edge gives a much more secure pencil line curve. It’s taken a bit of work to get it right but the Freecarver 6000 has helped the most. Love this board! It’s not a totally dedicated carver which allows me to drop on a steep or spin off a side hit. Even poke around a bit in the park. But its sweet spot is a good tight carve at a relatively low board angle. Clean stable turns, love this board!

Pro tip (costly education): Size it like an all-mountain board. The tight edge radius means a tight turn at low board angle, ergo, choose the narrowest board you can so transitions are fast. For its stiffness, a long wide board will buck you around, and boot out isn’t much of a problem at low angles anyway.

HI Jacob. Thanks for the great detailed review! We’re stoked to hear the board has helped you progress your carving and that you’re feeling that locked-in stability on steeper terrain. Great to know it still gives you the versatility to play around off-piste and in the park as well. Really appreciate the sizing insight too, that’s valuable feedback for other riders. Thanks again for sharing your experience! Keep shredding.
