The Ultralight Butterfly Split is an ultralight split with a compact shape that's made for high alpine pursuits where the balance of weight and performance are hyper critical. By reducing the tip and tail size, but keeping the contact points pushed out, the Butterfly Split has a super long effective edge which maximizes edge power in variable alpine conditions.

The Ultralight Butterfly Split was a design project born from a simple question - how can we smash the longest possible effective edge into the shortest possible splitboard?

It was a question that’s been on Jeremy Jones’ mind for many years as he’s pursued alpine objectives where the performance benefits of a short, ultralight board that offered the stability and edge hold of a traditionally much longer board would be a game changer.

Undoubtedly the most advanced splitboard we have ever produced, the Butterfly only came to life by systemically ignoring all preconceived design limitations. It is a true “concept car” that demands we rewrite the rules of how a splitboard is shaped and constructed.

The Butterfly is built for going far and high past your preconceived boundaries, where weight reduction is critical to climbing more vert than you ever have in a day, or pushing further into a range than ever before.

Built for edge power

Take a close look at the Butterfly’s one-of-kind outline and you’ll notice the contact points are basically at the tips of the board. This shape allows the Butterfly 154 cm to have a longer effective edge length than the Solution 169 cm! To unlock the full potential of the super long effective edge length, the Butterfly has a true camber profile matched with a 3D Contour Base. When you lean into a turn and load the tip-to-tail camber profile you engage the entire length of the board’s edge while the 3D Contour Base keeps the edges catch-free.

Built for endurance

The Butterfly features our new Ultralight construction that’s approximately 15% lighter than our standard split construction, yet just as durable. The layup includes two layers of carbon fiber, and multiple sections of Koroyd - an ultralight dampening material that weighs a fraction of the weight of wood. The Butterfly is also designed to be ridden 4-6 cm shorter than your standard freeride board. Between the short running length and the cutting edge materials, the Ultralight Butterfly is ready to help you confidently extend your range by lightening the load on your feet, and reducing the energy you burn on the skintrack.

Built for diverse conditions

The Butterfly is designed for high alpine adventures where you're sure to encounter mixed conditions. To blast through pow, crust, and ice, the Butterfly features Dual Radius Tips, Inner + Outer Edge Traction Tech, and a 3D Contour Base. The Dual Radius Tips ramp up midway through the radius to help cut through crud, and the 3D Contour Base helps eliminate edge catch and improve turn initiation. For added float in pow the Butterfly also has 15mm of taper which drops the tail and pops up the nose in soft snow.

The Butterfly Split is not a daily driver splitboard for your average rider.
