Very poor durability

Very poor durability. I've worn on three days, two of these days I snagged a branch and tore a new whole. By comparison, some slightly burlier 2L goretex pants I wore previously have no holes from 3 years in the same tree terrain in the Stowe glade area.

Great fit, the bib portion is lightweight (you don't overheat) but has bib coverage, and the breathability is fantastic and stretchy - great for hikes and touring. But the material is far too fragile for "shralpinsim" or a standard season in the alpine / backcountry, particularly for the high price.

Hi there,

We are truly sorry to hear the Shralpinist Bibs haven't stood up to the Vermont trees. We strive for a balance of lightweight breathability and durability, but it sounds like we missed the mark for your local glades. We'd like to hear more about the snags to help improve our future designs.

Great bib!

Love the fit and functionality of this bib. Worked well in cold dry and wet conditions. I like the beacon pocket and how these fit when skinning.

Hi Jason,

It’s great to hear the Shralpinist Stretch Bibs are holding up in both the dry cold and the wet stuff! Thanks for the review :)

Love the stretch!

Great feeling bib! I usually find bibs constricting when I splitboard but the stretch in these puppies makes your movements flawless.

Stretch, breath, and protect. Great bibs.

So far very happy with these bibs. Love the stretch for touring and boarding. They breath well compared to other bibs I've had (Armada, Arcteryx, Trew) but maintain good weather protection. They keep me dry even during heavy PNW Snow that melts as soon as it touches you (see photo). Current favorite bib that finds the happy medium for me of some stretch, good weather protection and breaths not bad.

I love these bibs. I really wish they had crotch vents but other than that they are the best bibs ive owned thus far.

Awesome bib, but…

Truly love these bibs. They are lightweight, very comfortable and have a great fit; I’m 6’4”, 220lbs in a XL. My biggest issue has been the durability. After about 15 mellow, on-piste resort days, I have 2 1/4” sized holes in either leg and one, 1” long rip right above the pocket. Wouldn’t want to take these into the backcountry unfortunately. They would be perfect for touring and coming down, but would be terrified to get these around any trees, rocks, etc.

Men's Shralpinist Stretch

I have used this bib for general resort riding and snowshoe / snowboard hikes. Very comfortable and would score 10 out 10 in this field. Like the attention to detail, e.g. is the loop inside of leg pockets. However, I have already one rip approx. 1 inch in lengh and another few holes around the bottom cuff. They are little too delicate and in hindsight would have opted for something little more hard wearing .

Good Bib + Outstanding Customer Support

Hi there,
just a quick review on the bib and Jones' customer support. I'm using the bib mostly for touring / splitboard mountaineering in Europe -> long days on the mountain but also some quick laps.

What I love and what's improvable:
+ Great fit right out of the box
+ Extremely comfortable due to material
+ All the important technical features (beacon pocket, vents, gaiters etc.)
+ Impressive performance / heat regulation / weather resistence on cold, windy, rainy days
- Durability: Fabric isn't the most durable on the market, I had issues after something poked a tiny whole through one of my pockets even though I am only carrying my beacon in it. However that's the normal trade-off when choosing a light set-up. You cannot have it all.
This is why I also got to show my love for Jones. Contacted them, received a replacement and help immediately, which is why this bib and the company deserve a 5-star rating. They stand behind their products!

Mostly Love, but Durability Issue

I’m happy with the bibs for the most part, but I have concerns about the long term durability. I’ve used the bibs 6 times in the backcountry, and there are already a few places where the fabric is breaking down. I keep my beacon in one of the thigh pockets, and the beacon is wearing through the fabric in a couple places. Hopefully they reinforce the fabric around the thigh pockets to keep this from happening in future iterations. Would love if Jones would warranty the bibs and provide me with a replacement pair!

Poor performance in wet snow

These bibs leaked badly!

I have only had these 3 days, and by the time I had ridden 2 laps on Whistler in wet snow they had completely leaked through and both legs were saturated.

They are lightweight, plenty of pockets, and great maneuverability, but they need work on their layers

Comfort and Functional

I’m in between sizes and went with a Large instead of medium for layering. Feels durable and lightweight. Gives you all the mobility.
