SkateTech

The NOW Skate Tech system works like a skateboard truck and enhances board control + reduces foot fatigue by transferring energy input directly from the binding to the board edges through a dynamic design.

Skatetech Exploded Image

1. Hanger 2.0 & 3.0

Hanger pivots on the kingpin like a lever, allowing lightning fast edge-to-edge energy transfer. True baseless design that delivers the most even board flex of any binding on the market.

2. Kingpin

The kingpin is the fulcrum that the hanger pivots on. Design magnifies energy transfer and enhances board response through leverage,

3. Post

The post attaches the hanger to the kingpin and is the connection between binding and board.

4. Bushings

Bushings are the primary binding contact point and offer customizable response and dampening (Surf mode vs Freeride mode).

Riding Flat Image

Riding flat

Skate Tech bindings feature a built-in dampening system for ultimate control bombing flat on your base. The baseplate rests on rubber bushings that absorb vibrations as you ride over rough snow. The binding also follows your every foot movement without altering the flex of the board and offers unmatched board feel for making micro edge adjustments as you ride flat.

Skate tech turn Image

Unmatched turn power

Power is transmitted directly to the edge. When you make a hard heel or toe turn the force you place on your straps and highback is transferred directly to your edge through the hanger, kingpin and post. By using the mechanical advantage of this pivot and lever system, Skate Tech bindings are the most responsive bindings in the world. Once on edge, you are locked in.

Traditional Bindings Image

No comparison to traditional bindings

Power is transmitted through the center disk. When you make a hard heel or toe turn on traditional bindings the pressure you place on your straps goes into the fixed center disk and forces the binding baseplate to bend before power is delivered to the edges. Energy is concentrated at the center of the board with traditional rigid baseplates which decreases potential turn power compared to Skate Tech bindings

Freeride mode vs Surf mode

Freeride mode

Freeride mode

Position the wide half of the strap above the buckle for more lateral support and board response. Use Hard Bushings for maximum board response.

Surf mode

Surf mode

Position the wide half of the strap below the buckle for solid heel support but more ankle flexibility for getting loose. Use Soft Bushings for a looser, more dynamic feel.

Broken toe ratchet

After a few hours on the slopes, I one of the toe ratchets began to malfunction. Had to order some parts replacement to finish out the season. They have a 1 year warranty but with the 6+ week turnaround time, the snow would be melted. Guess I expected these bindings to be flawless for the price, but they are not perfect.

Hi Christopher,

I am sorry to hear about the malfunctioning ratchet and the frustration with the warranty timeline. We definitely want you to finish your season strong; please contact us directly and we'll see if we can expedite those replacement parts to get you back on the snow.

Less Glop

I toured through a warming winter snowpack over the weekend, starting with hot pow that gradually turned to mash potato conditions, while using these Jones skins, with two friends who were using Black Diamond Skins (one with BD's pure nylon skins; one with BD's mohair mix). Glop was sticking to the bottom of their skins and they were constantly stopping to scrap it off; whereas my Jones skins remained relatively glop-free. Jones skins have good friction on the uphill and comfortable glide on the flattrack. Best skins on the market!

My favorite binding

My favorite binding. Responsive, durable and still kinda lightweight compared to other Bindings I've ridden. Perfect balance of power and play.

Tried & True

Love this binding. The skate tech allows you to torsionally torque your board and reduces vibrations in rough conditions. Super responsive and has good impact support. The straps and buckles are durable.

No soft bushings

Would've given 5 stars if the soft bushings were included.

Mercury binding

Awesome binding. Really stretchy straps are comfy and responsive. The transition from heel to toe is phenomenal ! Definitely great binding for charging and pow. Rode these with my stratos and hovercraft. Very dependable binding. Only real critique is the latters seem to be kinda soft. A harder plastic would last longer. Other then that great work Jones

Nice paired with flagship

Fit and feel great. Have not experimented with the surf mode set up, but happy with power transfer when carving at high speeds.

Great boot holders

I run these on all my Jones boards. I like the flex and comfort. I’d go 5 stars but I have had a few issues. I’ve had some buckles break and the heel portion of the boot pad doesn’t stay down on my rear foot. So on pow days I’m cleaning out snow each lap. Other than that they’re killer bindings

Hands down the best board I’ve own thus far. I went from Burton, Lib Tech, Arbor to Jones.

Great Value Freeride Binding

This is a dependable medium-stiff freeride binding. A great value for the price. Easy to customize to your board and boots. I love the feel of the skatetech. The forward lean is easy to adjust. No complaints.

It might be a one

It might be a one or two time use this season.

i plan to use the Jones board and bindings multiple if not all the time next season. This Jones board is so beautiful that I hug and admire it.

I need to get it on the slopes ASAP.

health and safety first but I appreciate the technical ability to produce a board and bindings like this.

I am savoring this Jones board and Jones bindings. Legitimate material.

I am almost holding this equipment for next season but to get a feel for the board I might take it for a couple runs. We have been getting snow, so as long as it is not too rocky here in so cal, I will take her out.

Mediums are Huge

I love Mercury's as a binding, but Jones did something with the dimensions and they don't fit like they used to. I'm in a Burton SLX size 8 and maxed out the straps on a Med with a lot of extra wiggle room in the tray. Great binding just runs big.

Sneaker good

I remember chatting up Xavier at a trade show and he was all psyched on the launch of Jones Bindings. He had good reason. The Mercury is surprisingly good mainly because the binding strap connection is so good. The connections responds well and stays out of your way based on the design. The quality is above what I've seen from another iconic brand I rode for a decade. The other thing I'll note is the design is done in a way that snow stays off your foot pad which is cookies.

I bought a medium size,

I bought a medium size, which may be a little bigger, maybe a small size will be better. So I suggest buying the right size.

Bought these with my new

Bought these with my new Freecarver 8000. Not much to say other than they are nice, comfy, I like how the straps flop over easy so I don't have to sit down to strap in.

Shred the gnar

These bindings are well designed to be easy to get in and out of in all winter conditions and they are very comfy. They don't get 5 stars from me because: on my first day the top of the right side binding grazed the bottom of a low chair on the lift as I was getting off the lift, and it got stuck for a second between the bottom of the lift and the hard snow ramp... and the soft liner poking up over the top of the highback got torn up. Performance wasn't affected here, but the bindings will age much quicker as a result of this snafu. It's a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong soft material in the way. Maybe the harder plastic of the highback should extend up a centimeter above the soft liner so that the soft liner doesn't get shredded by crappy chair lift exits and similar moves by lunks like me. Everybody hates chairlift exits.

Free carver 9000

Was very disappointed in shipping delays and had doubts b/c everyone say top of the line this or best that. Finally got to ride it yesterday and this thing is amazing!!! Fully lives up to your description of it. It is a carving machine that cuts through anything and is stable and keeps its grip even at high speeds ( topped out at 50mph but I’m sure it has more in it, was only my first day on it)
Mercury bindings we’re a perfect match.
Great job to your design team, I am very happy with it!

Mercury bindings

Unfortunately I brought the wrong size and I’m having some fun getting acclaimed to them.

Fortunately I also have a large pair that i absolutely love. I have them set up in the surf mode. These binding live anything you can throw at them from big mountain heli skiing to small Jib sessions in the park 10/10 will buy again
